Process management, process state, concurrent processing, synchronization, events. Operating system structure, the kernel approach, processor scheduling, task switching, monitors, threads. System management, memory management, process loading, communication with peripherals. File systems. Introduction to networks and distributed systems: sockets, socket programming, packets, internet protocols.
Prerequisites: CSci 135, CSci 143 . (Fall).
