JIT as a focus area in the MS degree program

The George Washington University is offering a new 15-credit graduate certificate in IT for Justice and Public Safety. The objective is to teach students how to apply computer science technology to meet the needs of data sharing, interoperability, data management, and security in the field of law enforcement and justice. This certificate provides a focused skill set for professionals in this field who want to lend their IT technical expertise to fight crime and terrorism. If you are now working as an information engineer, senior systems analyst, software developer, database administrator, or internet specialist, or on the technical staff of law enforcement and public safety agencies or related corporations, this program may help advance your career. Students who continue to the master's program gain further skills related to JIT, especially if they select the JIT focus area. All five courses earned as a part of this certificate can be transferred into the M.S. program.

The JIT graduate certificate is offered on both the Virginia Campus and the main campus in downtown DC, in an open enrollment format.

The certificate can be earned by completing five courses in the program during the regular academic semesters. The courses are described under the Curriculum section.

Note: Not all courses are available each semester. Please note that continuous enrollment in the fall and spring semesters must be maintained. If you are not able to register for an appropriate course in fall or spring, you must register for a leave of absence in that semester. Please see the Department of Computer Science about registration for a leave.
