Program requirements for students admitted before Fall 2006
Masters Degree Program of Study
- Three core courses - CSci 210, 211, 212
- No area of concentration is necessary.
- Seven additional courses that can be taken for graduate credit.
- At least 8 of the 10 courses must be taken at the 200 or above level
- Normally no more than two courses may be taken outside of the department.
Doctoral Degree Program of Study
- Direct Doctorate
- 54 credit hours of course work available for graduate credit.
- The three core courses - Csci 210, 211, 212
- A minimum of 15 credits in a major area
- A maximum of fifteen credits outside of the department.
- At most 5 courses at the 100 level
- Csci 301 plus at least two courses at the 300 level
- Pass the Preliminary examination within 4 semesters of starting the program.
- Pass both parts of the Qualifying Examination
- Complete a Dissertation for 24 credit hours
- Must submit for publication at least one paper to a refereed venue prior to graduation.
- Post Masters Degree
- 30 credit hours of course work available for graduate credit.
- Minimum of fifteen credits in a major area
- A maximum of two courses at the 100 level.
- The core courses may not be part of the program
- CSci 301 plus at least two courses at the 300 level.
- A maximum of 3 courses outside of the department.
- Pass the preliminary examination within 4 semesters of starting the program.
- Pass both parts of the Qualifying Examination
- Complete a dissertation for 24 credit hours.
- Must submit for publication at least one paper to a referred venue prior to graduation.
