14. Use this space for any comments you may have about the course, the instructor, readings, etc.
  • This was one of the most interesting courses I have ever taken. There was a very good balance between theory (lectures/notes/book) and practice (homeworks). I also enjoyed learning MATLAB. It is a very nice software package, with a language that has a lot of unique features to make processing matrix/vector data easier. I have read a fair amount of the textbook and have also found it to be very informative, and a very good choice as a reference companion for the course. I would have liked to have seen some more time spent on the mathematics of filters for sub-band coding; it is interesting stuff.
  • This was an excellent course, extremely informative and useful beyond Data Compression. Professor Youssef is passionate about the course material and very knowledgeable. He also wants to make sure that the students adequately understand the course material and gladly spends time to answer questions and help when needed.
  • The homework took forever, but overall I very much enjoyed this class.
  • Excellent instructor, excellent course.
