14. Use this space for any comments you may have about the course, the instructor, readings, etc.
  • This was the worst class I have ever taken. It was just common sense that we had to memorize and regurgitate back on the exam. There was too much unrelated work that we haad to do, and the class taught nothing to anyone there.
  • I think the Department should consider eliminating this course as a core requirement for graduate work. It is not at all clear to me what the purpose of the course is. The first half discusses how to organize a large software project - something that a management course in the business school could do better. The second half is a whirlwind tour of random aspects of different kinds of programming languages - but without enough time to go into any meaningful depth on any topic. At a minimum, the course should not be listed as a prerequisite for any other course, as I learned nothing in it that would be particularly applicable to other graduate courses listed in the catalog. The professor gave a very well-organized presentation of the material, but the class itself is a pointless waste of time. I would rather have spent the credit hours on a class that went into depth on one or two of the concepts that this class skimmed over.
  • The subject matter was very interesting but the amount of information covered is too broad for a single semester.
  • The Instructor is a valuable instructor. He tries to explain things by giving us real world scenarios.
  • The midterm grading seemed awfully strict, and the grades were pretty low. The term paper was a lot of work for a very small percentage of the overall grade (two questions on the midterm = term paper), which didn't seem right. The final project was interesting, and I learned some useful material there. I think I will be able to apply what I learned in this course.
  • The course is to dispersed. Needs to be more focused. Grading system very subjective.
