• First, the classroom used was unacceptably cold, regardless of the outside weather. Students have had to wear jackets, even in the last class of the semester. The course was taught on an entirely theoretical level, relying heavily on abstract logical symbols and never going beyond formal proofs. It would have been far better to explain new concepts in plain English first, and then show how the general concept translates into formal theory. While this is supposed to be a course in abstract theory, it is also supposed to teach how to apply the theory in actual programming situations. I could not use any of the concepts discussed in a real-world application. It is also supposed to be an introductory level course. Far too much prior knowledge was assumed. The midterm grades clearly showed that the class was not benefitting from the teaching method used, yet the professor's only adjustment was to speak louder, and occasionally bang on the whiteboard, as if that would make it easier to follow her. • Dr Choi did an outstanding job teaching this class. The subject material was extremely challenging, and Dr Choi did an excellent job in teaching us how to solve highly complex problems. I feel lucky to have her as my professor for this class because I do not feel an "average" professor would have been able to relate the complex material to me in an understandable format, as Dr Choi was able to do. She was extremely interactive with the class every lecture, and that helped to keep all the students involved and focused through the semester. I would highly recommend her. I feel that the material she has taught me will be extremely useful during my professional career.
