14. Use this space for any comments you may have about the course, the instructor, readings, etc.
  • Overall, i really enjoyed what this course had to offer. It was organized nicely and flowed well through each topic. class interaction piece was fun. enjoyed the project. pace was somewhat hectic at times - would suggest you rethink the biweekly homeworks ontop of the final project. a word about the homeworks - they were a bit tedious and overwhelming at times. but they were challenging and made me think. grading style began absurd but cooled down by the end of the semester - i suppose that's on purpose. tit-for-tat gets old though, especially for things like grammar, so maybe ease off at first and don't wear out your students :) loved the class
  • The reading material was applicable but extremely boring and difficult to read. The assignments were given sporadically with not enough time to address them when they were assigned. They should be spaced out more appropriately so that students have the time to spend on them. Grades were not returned with enough time to understand how the course was graded and what was expected of us.
  • I thought this was an excellent class. The homework was a bit excessive for the time we were given to complete it. If each homework had been assigned as we turned in the previous one it would have been much better. I often spent 15-20 hours on assignments, and we generally only had one week to complete them. I do think that I learned a lot from the homework and thought they were reasonable assignments, but the time constraints were very difficult for people working and taking other courses simultaneously. The professor was an excellent lecturer. He came to every class well prepared, with clear and concise slides and a well thought out lecture. I would absolutely take another course from him.
  • The grading on homework was a little too strict.
  • The homework assignments were often too long and required too much time to complete, and as a result I felt I didn't get as much out of them as I could have had they been a little shorter. Also, the grader was too picky given that the assignments were so extensive to begin with, so it was difficult to always provide extremely in depth and complete answers to the questions.
  • Homeworks for graduate students took a considerable amount more than that of undergraduates. Grading should have been better documented in the assignment (each part and how many points it was worth)
