14. Use this space for any comments you may have about the course, the instructor, readings, etc.
  • I did well in this class, but found it difficult to cope with the course and the instructor. I went to almost every class during the semester hoping to get something from the lecture, but I consistently learned nothing there. I constantly pondered this situation. Perhaps it was because this instructor's lectures consisted of slides copied from other instructors. These slides were read aloud without enthusiasm. The assigned work was also unhelpful. The projects were ripped from other instructors at other institutions. Legal issues aside, these projects were much more difficult than the rest of the course material because the professor(s) who created them were much more involved with their class. Overall, very little of what the instructor contributed was original, useful, or worthwhile. Luckily, an accessible textbook and a helpful TA ensured that my grade did not suffer from this situation. A teaching-focused (as opposed to research-focused) professor is needed for this important but difficult
  • For my point of view, the professor probably thought that he was the only professor and the only course we've got. The amount of work and project given for the class was a great deal of work in a short period of time. The exams were catastrophically long for just an hour exam. I never got to finish even half of my exam. I was certainly dissatisfy with that situation because it is indeed the only computer science class that I ever felt like I was failing badly at with all the work I put in to do better.
