14. Use this space for any comments you may have about the course, the instructor, readings, etc.
- Excellent Professor, give him a raise.
- Prof. Simha is one of the worst professors I have had at this university. I have no issue with him personally, but as a teacher, I feel he needs to make some drastic changes.
First of all, his teaching style is very limited in its ability to cater to different learning styles. There were certainly some people in the class that liked doing everything on their own, but I would have preferred a professor who taught the material, rather than asking us to figure everything out for ourselves. He seems to think it is all very simple, but not everyone's brains work like his. He needs to learn how to teach outside of the very abstract. He should try using visual analogies and finding animations to demonstrate things.
Outside of his severely lacking teaching skills, he seems, to put it bluntly, to have an expressive language issue. His assignments are always poorly written; it usually took me around 10 full readings of an assignment to get started properly and then I still had to keep reading over the assignmen
- The last few lectures were the most interesting because they provided more real world examples for the algorithms described. If other algorithms were described in a similar way, it would make the class more engaging.
- Prof. Simha is very knowledgeable about algorithms and CS as a whole. This class has challenged me and made me exercise my brain in ways I thought weren't possible! Out of all my CS professors, he is definately one that knows his stuff and is always willing to go the extra mile for students. He is also very patient and kind with students, which I think makes him very approachable. I would suggest having him teach intro level CS courses because he would do a great job of laying a solid CS foundation for students. Thanks for a great semester! C. Chern
