NOTE:

  • We recommend taking BiSc 109 and CS 177 in the Fall and Spring respectively. However, they are also offered on a limited basis in the Spring and Fall (respectively) as well.
  • Freshmen with AP Biology are encouraged to take BiSc 109 in the Fall semester, followed with CS 177 in the Spring semester.
  • To get a BA in Biology requires that you complete 4 credits in each of Blocks A, B, C and D as defined by the Biology Department:
    • Block A (Cell and Molecular Biology): Block A is satisfied by BiSc 109 (4).
    • Block B (Suborganismal Biology): 110, 114, 115, 118, 120, 121, 122, 123, 135, 128.
    • Block C (Organismal Biology): 130, 132, 137, 139, 140, 142
    • Block D (Ecology and Evolution): 150, 151, 152, 155, 156, 157, 158, 159, 167, 168, 169.
  • Although you may take any Block B courses to satisfy the requirements, we recommend choosing from these Block B courses: 114, 114, 122-123.
  • Likewise, we recommend choosing from these Block C courses: 137
  • And from these Block D courses: 150-151 (6 credits), 154, 155, 151-180 (6 credits)
  • For the Biology electives, we recommend choosing from: 102, 103, 107, 109, or 171. Alternatively, if you plan to enroll in the MS Bioinformatics program, you might get a head start by taking Bioc 221, Bioc 236 or Bioc 237.
